Yinger Shines as Medalist, Leads Penn State York to First Team Golf Title
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State York claimed the 2025 PSUAC Golf Championship on Tuesday, October 14th, at the Penn State Blue Course, edging out Penn State DuBois by a shot in a come from behind win in the two-day event.
York's Dillon Yinger played stellar golf all week, leading by two shots after day one and holding on to win by five shots over Penn State Scranton's Connor Mullaney. Yinger shot an even par 72 on Monday in wet, chilly conditions before a one-under round on Tuesday that saw the wind pick up. Mullaney shot back-to-back rounds of 74 to capture second place in the PSUAC.
Yinger's week not only helped him win the PSUAC medalist honors, but he also claimed the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championship medalist honors, winning by two shots over his next closest competitor, Will Farschon from Southern Maine CC, in the concurrently held event.
In the PSUAC team race, York trailed first round leader DuBois by eight shots heading into the final day. A total of five teams were with 12 shots of the leaders after Monday's round, and that same parity played out on Tuesday as five teams remained within 12 shots of York when it all concluded. York's score of 309 on Tuesday tied for the lowest round total of the week by any PSUAC team, shared with Penn State Mont Alto, who also shot 309 on Tuesday and finished third. York improved by 14 shots from day one to day two.
The crown is Penn State York's first in golf after several runner-up finishes in recent years. York's best finish in any tournament this year was third before winning the PSUAC title in one of the most competitive years in PSUAC golf history.
